A Homeless Shelter In the heart of a Drug Arrest Hotspot?

It’s no secrect at this point that large numbers of illegals are entering our country every month. I-35 is the main route that connects the southern border to the center of the country, Kansas City. Trafficking tends to bring drugs with it, and as data shows, this location is a hotpost, and could attract criminal and illegal activities.

Issue 1

No priority is given to the homeless population in Johnson County.

Commissioners voted NOT to check for ties to Johnson County when admitting “residents” to this shelter. Will neighboring cities bus their homeless to Johnson county?

Issue 2

People in our country illegally are allowed to stay in the shelter.

Commissioners voted NOT to check for U.S. citizenship or legal status such as a green card or student visa.

Issue 3

Reserving beds for local Police use

Commissioners voted NOT to reserve 10% (5 Beds) for local Police use only.
